Homework Happenings for Tuesday, Oct. 30th

Math: Bar model WS Reading: Read "Stone Soup" with an adult and sign reading log. DOn't forget to sign the bottom of your child's reading log for permission to go on our field trip!! Science: Finish up food chain and turn in. We will NOT have a test over chpt 3. Instead, we will take grades from our homework and projects (food chain, ecosystem drawing, etc) Don't forget that we are going to the Carson Center to see "We the People" at 11:00 am. We will be back after lunch time, so we will eat in the room. You may want to send a small finger snack with your child for them to eat around 10. ****BLOG BUSTER***** Your child has been assigned an ecosystem to draw and diagram. How about researching on the computer for some interesting plants and animals??

Homework Happenings for Thursday, Oct. 25

Study for DOL and spelling test (if you didn't make 100% on pretest) Math: Bar modeling-Complete WB79-80. Use scoring guide found in math notebook to check for accuracy!! Grammar: WB 61-62 on combining sentences ***Tomorrow, we are having a "Writer's Workshop" for budding authors! This has grown out of our story we read this week about the author Helen Lester, who began writing when she was only 8 years old! Students are going to bring examples of their writing to share with the class. If any of you have a child who is going to bring something and you would like to come and listen in, we will probably begin around 1:15****

Reading: Read "Author: A True Story" at home with a grownup. Sign the reading log. Complete the trifold, using complete sentences!! ***Don't forget that tomorrow is our Class AR reward movie "Trumpet of the Swan" Your child may bring a pillow or stuffed animal for laying on or beside during our movie!***** I am continuing to check IXL for students who are working hard.....You may email me with scores or number of problems that you worked!

Study for Spelling and DOL test. Grammar: Possessive nouns WB 55-56 Finish up penpal letter. Please have your "home editors" check for misspelled words! Upcoming test: You should have received the Chpt 2 study guide. We will be taking this test on Tuesday. Our review is on Monday.

Homework Happenings for Tuesday, October 16th

Reading: Read "The Planets of the Solar System" at home. Be sure to sign reading log. Develop and write 5 questions and answers from the story. Pop quiz tomorrow! Math: Complete Chpt Review on pg. 116 of textbook. Test over chapter 4 tomorrow. We attended a good program today at the Carson Center on Cyberbullying. Be sure to ask your child about ways to be responsible technology users!
