Homework Happenings for Thursday, September 29th

Good Afternoon, HLOE Family!!! We are winding down for Fall Break and here is the HW for the evening:

Spelling: If you did not make 100% on your Spelling City test, study and take tomorrow

Grammar: Study DOL sentences

Math: Estimating WB 32-34

Social Studies: Study for Ch. 1 Test

****our Class made our Class AR Goal with a total of 244 points. Yeah!! To celebrate, we will be relaxing with a treat and the movie "Trumpet of the Swan" at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. Congratulations, Class!! Don't forget that our official AR cutoff is the Tuesday after Fall Break. The AR Reward will be Wednesday, October 12th. We are making balloon animals with Ms. Alexander!

We are in the "home stretch" of our first 9 weeks! This is the last week of the month of September.

Homework for tonight is:

Spelling: Make up a story using 10 of your spelling words this week.

Reading: Practice 0 WB 51/52

Social Studies: WB 8 Test over chapter 1 is on Friday. Study guide went home today!

Homework Happenings for Tuesday, Sept. 20th

Today was our field trip to downtown Paducah's River Heritage Museum and the Floodwall Murals. There is no homework for the night. READ!!!

Parents:
There is a letter going home tonight about the information on our April field trip to Frankfort, for those who have not been able to attend our parent meetings. We are asking that you pay at least 1/2 the total charge ($30) by the end of October. We will be asked to make a downpayment on our buses at that time. You may pay anything toward the trip at any time. Just send a check, in a marked envelope, with your child. I will then send you a receipt to let you know that I have received payment. Thanks!!!

Homework Happenings for Monday, September 19th


Good Afternoon, HLOE students! Today's homework is:

Spelling: Illustrate 10 spelling words WS

Reading: Read "Wolf!" at home and have parents sign sheet/agenda. Complete Practice O WB 45/46.

Math: CHapter 2: Mental Math: Complete "QUICK CHECK" pp. 39-40.

No Social Studies homework today. Don't forget, our trip to downtown Paducah is tomorrow. Wear comfortable shoes as we will be doing some walking. We will also eat sack lunches downtown. If there are any parents who would like to join us, you may park down in the parking lot at the foot of Broadway. Our buses should be arriving aroun 9:00 am. We will be visiting the River Heritage Museum and the Floodwall. It should be a great learning experience!

All this week on our blog, I will be posting pictures from our trip to Morningside last Thursday. The students really enjoyed meeting their new "grandparent"!

Math: Chapter 1 Review pp. 34-35 in textbook; test will be on Wendnesday

MAPs testing today, so no science.

*****Reminder: Tomorrow night, immediatly following the PTO meeting, we will have a third grade informational meeting for our parents. We will cover items such as homework policy, discipline procedures for third grade, and more information about our spring trip to Frankfort. Be sure to make a point to come! ******

Homework Happenings for Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

No homework this evening. Here are a couple of important dates/meetings that I need to share with you:

AR cutoff is Tuesday, October 11th. Hopefully, this will give friends an opportunity to read over Fall Break and come back to take some last minute tests.

AR Reward: Wednesday, October 12th
We are meeting with Mrs. Tane, the "Balloon Animal Lady" and she is going to hold a
workshop on how to make balloon animals!!

Tuesday, September 13th @ 6:30pm
PTO meeting and third grade meeting, immediately following. We will go over third grade
homework policy, etc.

Homework Happenings for Tuesday, Septmeber 6, 2011

Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The homework assignments for today are:

Reading: Read "The Perfect Pet" . No written assignment

Math: Place Value Review WB 7-8

Science: We started Chapter 2 "Plant Life Cycles" Complete WB 27/28 at home.

We will be starting the MAPs testing cycle this week and will complete it next week. Your child will be tested in the computer lab over math skills.

Study DOL sentences and spelling words (unless you made 100% on your pretest)

Math: Place Value WS

Grammar: Predicate WB 21-22

Science: The Vertebrate Flip Book is due by 3:30 tomorrow afternoon!

The students did a great job on their science test! I will be handing it back tomorrow.
