Math: Complete p 213 (11-20) in textbook as a study guide. We have already worked some other multiplication problems to also review for test tomorrow. Writing: Recopy your Informative Letter to Snowball, our Elf on the Shelf. Be sure to have your grownup to check for spelling errors! ALL Native American projects were turned in on time! Yeah! Can't wait to present them in the next few days. They will remain on display outside our classroom until next Wednesday. You may pick them up then.

We have started our "Spelling Squares" this week. Your child has all week to complete three (3) activities listed on the sheet. I have worksheets for them to use for some of them. They can use their Rotary Club dictionary to complete many of them! I will also give them class time to work on this assignment. Remind them the Spelling Squares sheet MUST be attached to their work before turning it in!! Math: Chpt 7-Mental Multiplication Compete pp 193 (1-10) in math notebook. Study for timed test tomorrow! Social Studies: Continue to work on projects. ALL projects are due next Monday, Dec. 9th.

Because of the short 2-day week, we will NOT have a spelling list, DOL sentences, reading story or Grammar lesson. We will be concentrating on math and Native Americans (Social Studies) this week! Math: Chapter Review on pp. 186 (9-26) Chapter 6 test tomorrow! Social Studies: Work on your Native American project. I have met today with each child and they have done some research on ideas for their project. Remember, project AND their presentation are due Monday, Dec. 9th! If they finish earlier, they can bring it in and go on and present.

Be sure to send money with them tomorrow. You may also write a check, made out to "Back Yard Bookfair". If you would prefer to come with your child to buy books, you may come by during our specials (12:45-1:30) OR you and go right before or after school.

Welcome to my homework/assignment blog!! I am so glad to welcome you to third grade and my classroom! This is the place where you will go to locate daily homework assignments and information about upcoming events with our class and grade level. Most of the events will be also found on our weekly newsletter, but you can have two sources to be "in the know"! Upcoming Events in August: Monday, Aug. 5th 3rd grade registration 1-3 pm. Tuesday, Aug. 6th Late registration 6-7 pm. **Both of these will be in our classrooms. I am located in room 127. You will come in the front door and turn to your left. Go all the way to the end of the hallway, and I am the last door on your right before you exit the building. You are welcome to bring school supplies during registration, so your child won't be saddled with it the first day of school. Friday, Aug. 9th FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! I look forward to seeing all your bright faces on that day!

Spelling: Write spelling words 3x each in print OR 2x each in cursive Reading: Practice O WB 169-170 Social Studies: We are going to have a "Mock" City Council meeting next week to argue the pros and cons of having a dog leash law in the city of Paducah. If you child would like to represent the city as the Mayor or one of the city commissioners, they will need to write a 4-5 sentence paragraph explaining why they would like to serve on our City Council. They have all this week to work on this and turn in by Thursday. I will choose the council by next Monday.

Homework Happenings for Monday, March 4th

We have a special "K-Prep" week, so we won't be having a regular spelling list, DOL, reading or grammar. Instead, we will be practicing with reading and language arts tests. Your child may be bringing home some passages for you to view with them. These will not be graded, except together in class. This should give your child a better idea on how well they can answer questions in the testing format. We are having regular math and Social Studies. Social Studies: Complete the Chpt 7 review on pp 262-263 (1-12). We are looking at taking the test probably on Thursday, March 7th. Keep studying the study guide!! Penpal letters are here! Math: We are ready for the chapter 14 test over fractions. Tonight the HW is to complete their "study guide" which is the Chpt Review on pp. 160-162 Study for DOL and spelling tests Language/Writing: Recopy your opinion paragraph IN YOUR BEST HANDWRITING on notebook paper! ****BLOG BUSTER***** We are talking about our local government with this chapter. Be watching the newspaper for some examples of local government at work. You may bring in articles, pictures,etc to share! Look for a Social Studies test sometime next week.

I normally do not post any assignments for Friday; however, we will have our math test on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd .. Your child will have the Chpt Review (pp. 238-239) to complete as their study guide. Please go over long division problems with them using this as a guide! ALso, we will be going to Morningside on Tuesday @ 2:00. We are planning on having a "Game Day" with our friends. We will take some of our games, along with playing some of their favorites!! Have a great long weekend!

We are wanting to beat Mr. Thompson by racking up more problems than him!!! **** BLOG BUSTER: Today in Science , we are going to learn about some famous marble statues in Greece that are being damaged by acid erosion. Can you name a city in the U.S. where this might also be a problem (HINT: lots of marble statues/memorials)?

Reading: Read "Cook-A-Doodle-Doo" with a parent/adult. Sign reading log. Complete story organizer Science: Vocabulary WB 83-84 USE GLOSSARY!! We have new AR goals for the 3rd nine weeks. Please encourage your child to read at home every night. That will help greatly with taking AR tests at school! Report cards go home on Wednesday. We will be holding cards for students who have not paid lunch charges and also those who have overdue books. Please make sure that your child has taken care of these items! BLOG BUSTER: News FLash!! The International Hydrographic Organization has determined that we now have 5, not 4 major oceans. Do some research and find out the name of this ocean and where it is located.
