This is usually NOT a homework night, but we have a fun activity for you to do with your child. We are beginning our personal narrative, where your child will be writing about an important event that they have experienced. We need your help with topic ideas. Please read the letter (green) explaining about the activity. Have your child bring back their emotion web to share and choose one for their PN event. You will be able to help your child to recall exciting events that they may want to write about!

Reading: Read the story "Wolf!" with an adult and complete the trifold. Remember to restate your responses!! Language: Plural nouns WB 39-40 No Science today due to Morningside visit! Remember that your first payment of $10 for our Frankfort trip is due! You may send cash or a check made out to "HLOE"

Monday, September 23

Spelling: Copy spelling words 3 times each on paper Math: Addition with regrouping WB 50 Tomorrow is our first visit to Morningside to meet our adopted Grandparent! We will be taking an acrostic poem that we created to share with them. Be sure to ask your child about their new friend tomorrow evening!

Thursday September 19th

Study for DOL and spelling tests (If your child made a 100% on the pretest on Spelling City today, they don't have to take it tomorrow!) Reading: Complete "The Strongest One" review assessment We have begun science this week. We will begin by studying plants and animals. Watch for science work coming home this next week!

Monday, September 16th

Spelling: Copy spelling words on paper 3 times each Math: Chapter 2 Review (study guide) pp. 72-73 ***Test will be on Wednesday. Be sure to study your study guide both tonight and Tuesday!

Tuesday, September 10th

Reading: Read "The Perfect Pet" and fill in organizer (WB 31) Math: Mental Subtraction WB 23-24 Social Studies: Complete WS over Lesson 3"Rural Communities" ****Date Change**** Our Frankfort date for our trip has changed to Thursday, March 13th. The 14th is a scheduled PD day for teachers; no school for students.

Study DOL and spelling words for tests. Math: WB 15-`16 Social Studies: Lesson 2 comprehension sheet "Suburbs" BLOG BUSTER: Do some research and name a large city i.e. Chicago. List 3-4 small suburbs that surround this city. Bring your answers in and share. You will get a "sweet treat"!

Wednesday, Sept. 4th

Even though it is Wednesday, we DO have one HW assignment because of the Monday holiday. Reading: Read "Penguin Chick" with a parent and have them sign your reading log. REMINDER: Parents, you may pay your first $10 installment any time for our Frankfort trip. If writing a check, just make it out to "Hendron-Lone Oak" or you may send cash. Be sure to send any money in a signed envelope!! I will write you out a receipt and send it home with your child!
