Homework Happenings for Monday, December 12th

Busy week here at HLOE! Our only homework is:

Complete the Hidden Word search for the Native American Vocabulary words. We will exchange papers and complete for tomorrow.

Math: some students will be bringing home their Chpt 7 test to correct for a higher grade. Make sure to have your parents to sign the test! It must be brought back on Tuesday to count the higher grade.

We are continuing to present our projects. The students are doing a great job of not only showing off what they created, but also telling us all about their tribe! We will finish these up this week. Parents, you may come by and pick up your child's project anytime after Thursday. If you are coming to our parties Friday afternoon, that will be a great time to get them.

Don't forget about our family in need that we are providing Christmas for. Please bring in gifts or cash for us to purchase things for them. The third grade teachers will be shopping for our family after school on Thursday.

I am trying something new this year for our Holiday gift giving....Instead of my students buying something for me for Christmas, I have put out "Wreath Wishes" on my tree. These wreathes contain an item that we need in our classroom for the next semester. If you want to purchase and wrap these up, we will open them during our Christmas party on Friday. These gifts will be able to be shared by the whole classroom!

Here are some Native American presenters and a picture from our Morningside visit on Friday.

Homework Happenings for Thursday, December 8th

No spelling test or DOL test tomorrow, so no studying in those areas!

Math: Chapter Review pp. 212-213 in book. Test on Chpt 7 tomorrow over "Multiplication with Regrouping" Please review multiplication facts. The test should be easy IF your child knows his/her facts!

Native American projects are beginning to come in, and they are WONDERFUL!!! I am always amazed at how creative our third graders are with resources around them. We will go on and begin presenting tomorrow for those who are ready. Projects are due tomorrow! Remember, students need to also be able to talk about the tribe they researched (clothing, shelter, traditions, etc) as they present. Watch for pictures on our blog next week of presentations!

We are working on our flip books in class over Native American tribes. Your child is working with a partner to research facts about this tribe. If they want to do some extra research at home to bring in and add to their book, please allow them to do this! You may use the websites that I sent home to look up some neat facts.

*******We have rescheduled our Morningside visit for tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Sorry for the inconvenience!********

Don't forget about our family that we have adopted for Christmas. The third grade is collecting for a mom and her 4 kids to make the Holiday season a little brighter for them. Please send in clothing, toys or cash so we can buy for this family.
