Homework Happenings for Tuesday, January 31st

Reading: Please read your story "My Very Own Room" with an adult. Complete the comprehension trifold while reading.

Math: We are continuing to "build" our ice cream sundae as we pass our multiplication facts! Tonight, we concentrate on the 6 facts. Complete the x6 WS as you have mom/dad time you. Good luck! Remember, Facts in a Flash online!!

We are highlighting our colleges each Friday, This Friday, we will be learning all about Western KY University in Bowling Green, KY. Do some research and bring in some fun facts about WKU (mascot, school colors, famous alumni who attended it, important sport trivia, etc). You will receive a prize for your work!!!

Homework Happenings for Monday, January 30th

Spelling: We are doing the "tic tac toe" activities for our spelling lesson on plurals this week. You may begin these at any time this week. You choose three (3) assignments to complete. Be sure to turn in with your tic tac toe sheet, with your name on it!

Reading: Practice O WB 139-140

Math: Bar modeling WB 165-168

***Remember to keep working on your multiplication facts this week! We will be taking our x5 facts today. Then, we will concentrate on the 6's and 7's. I will be sending home practice sheets for homework to help with memorization. Also, you can go on "Facts in a Flash" to practice.

Homework Happenings for Thursday, Jan. 26th

Study your spelling words! Remember to practice the meanings, because we are studying homophones!

Study Daily Oral Language paragraphs "Here's My Dollar"

Math: We are practicing the 4 multiplication facts. Complete the multiplication WS. We will take the x4 test tomorrow. We will be adding a "scoop" of ice cream" if we make 100%!!!

Homework Happenings for Tuesday, January 24th

Reading: Read "Here's My Dollar" at home with an adult. Be sure to have them sign your reading log. Finish up your comprehension trifold.

Math: Study the three multiplication facts. Yesterday, we began "building" our ice cream sundaes with our knowledge of our multiplication facts. Every 2-3 days, we will take a multiplication timed test over the math facts to test for master,starting with the 2 facts. If they make 100% on the facts assessed, they get to add an ingredient to their Ice Cream creation! If they don't pass, they can take their sheet home to study and take again. Please help your child to learn these facts to mastery! So far, we have all taken our x2 facts test. All but 3 passed, so the others will take over today. Also, remember to log on to AR and practice all facts with "Facts in a Flash", the new program that we are using school-wide.

Science: Vocabulary Riddle WB 104

Tomorrow is our 100th Day of school! In honor of the event, your child can bring in 100 of something small (beans, buttons, chips, etc) so we can practice some some math calendar equations with them! Join in the fun!!

Homework Happenings for Monday, January 23rd

Spelling: Either write spelling words 2 times each in cursive OR 3 times each in print

Reading: Practice O WB 133/134

Math: No HW. We are starting Chapter 9:"Bar Modeling with Multiplication and Division" Students, you can show your parents how we use this strategy to solve real-world problems.

Science: NO HW. We are beginning our new chapter 6 on Rocks, Minerals and Soil. Be sure to remind your child to keep up with vocabulary words and writing the definitions of them. We will turn them in when we take the test.

******BLOG BUSTER******
Bring in interesting rocks, along with some research, and share with us! We will try to build a class "rock collection"for all to see. Tell parents we will take good care of rocks brought in and return when we finish sharing.

Thursday: Field trip to Carson Center to see "Magic School Bus" Don't forget to get in the $5.50 fee for ticket and bus fee!!

Even though it is not a homework night, we are ready for our division test. The students have worked the practice at the end of the chapter as a "study guide", so they can go over those problems as some extra practice. The test is tomorrow!

No Morningside visit tomorrow due to construction in their dining room.

Homework Happenings for Monday, January 17th

Spelling: Copy your spelling words 2 times each, in cursive, on notebook paper

Reading: Take home reading book and reread "Washington Weed Whackers" with an adult. Don't forget to get a signature!!

Science: Study for Chapter 7 science test tomorrow. Remember: turn in 16 vocabulary definitions tomorrow after your test!

Math: No homework tonight. Continue to study long division process! Our test over this chapter (8) should be either Thursday or Friday.

*****I am sending home a letter explaining our "Facts in a Flash" program that we started after Christmas. Please read over about the program and where your child is as of now. We will continue to work on this program during our Wednesday computer time. Then sign and return. Your child can access this website through our AR website at home. They can work on their personal goal to improve their math facts!*****

Tuesday, January 10th

Spelling: Continue working on "Tic-Tac-Toe" spelling activities. They are due on Friday. You may turn it in anytime before if you finish.

Reading: Read the story "7 Spools of Thread" with an adult. Finish up the trifold questions #4 and #5.

Math: Long division "Let's Practice" p. 230 in textbook. Please use the grid paper to keep the problems straight and neat!

We are studying sudden changes to the Earth i.e. volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and floods. Do some research on your own on the internet and we will use it to help with our diagram/drawings tomorrow!

Reminder: There are still some parents who have not made a first payment ($30) toward our Frankfort trip in April. Please remember that ALL money is due ($60) by the end of February in order for us to secure our buses! If you have any questions, please email or call me here at school.

Spelling: We are doing a "Tic-Tac-Toe" week for our spelling assignment. Your child has all week to complete three (3) assignments of their own choosing. Be sure to keep your Tic-Tac-Toe cover sheet. Staple ALL assignments to it and fill it out correctly. It can be turned in at any time during the week, but it is due Friday, January 13th.

Reading: Practice O WB 119 ONLY.

Math: NO homework tonight. We are reviewing odd/even nos. This will help us as we begin long division tomorrow. Continue to practice your multiplication facts!!!

Science: WB 85-86.

Welcome Back, Third and a half Graders!!!!
I hope you are ready to begin the second leg of our third grade year, working toward fourth grade.

Our homework for tonight is:

Spelling: Copy spelling word in cursive; once trace over the word and two times on the paper. Use your best writing!

Reading: Practice O WB 111-112

Math: pp. 218 (1-16) We started this in class; some stayed in at recess and finished. If they chose NOT to, they were to complete at home.

****Begin reviewing multiplication/division facts as we will begin our Division Chpt on long division. Times facts are a must!!****

BLOG BUSTER: Do some research on "continental drift". What is it? When did it occur? How did it change the shape of landforms on the Earth? Bring in what you find for extra science credit!!
